Overview
If you want to experience a templestay somewhere not far from Seoul, join Hwagyesa templestay program. It is located in Mt. Bukhansan nearby Suyu subway station (Line 4).
What is unique about Hwagyesa is that it owns a Buddhist College (불교대학) and an International Zen Center (국제선원). The Buddhist College offers various classes from beginner to advanced levels in Korean. International Zen Center is for international visitors and has regular Sunday Programs in English where you can learn about meditation and have Dharma Talk with other practitioners.

Option 1) Experience Templestay Program (Sat, 2D1N)
This program includes a guided tour of the temple, ceremonies in the evening and in the morning, Chamseon (Zen meditation), 108 prostrations and tea meditation.

1. Children 6 years old or younger are free of charge.
2. A uniform (a vest and pants) will be provided but you may need some extra clothes.
Option 2) Relaxation Templestay Program (Tue-Fri, 2D1N)
For this program, all you need to do is to participate in the ceremonies in the evening and morning and have meals at designated times. For the rest of the time, you will have free time to think about yourself or do some activities upon request.

*Remarks:
1. Children 6 years old or younger are free of charge.
2. A uniform (a vest and pants) will be provided but you may need some extra clothes.
3. Some activities may be available upon request during the free time such as lotus making, copying sutra, or meditation depending on the temple's situations.
