This worked pretty effortlessly, from receiving it to installing and using it! Only thing is that you need to put a Korean number to receive the notification when the parcel with the sim arrives, so it would be good if you have a contact or somebody whose number you could put in. I am going to buy it again :)

[How to Purchase / Activate the SIM Card]
  1. Choose and purchase your preferred SIM card. On the date selection, please select which day you would like to receive your SIM card.
  2. On the booking page, please write down the address to where you would like to receive your SIM card.
  3. It usually takes 1~2 business days to deliver a SIM card to an address in Korea.
  4. When you receive the SIM card, please contact the customer service of the SIM card company and activate your SIM card. SIM card activation is only available during Mon~Sat (except holidays) from 11:00am~7:00pm. If you receive your parcel after 7:00pm on Saturday or do not activate your SIM card before 7:00pm on Saturday, you must activate your SIM card on the following Monday.

[About the Postal Parcel Shipment]
  • You can only receive the SIM card by postal parcel during Mon~Fri (except holidays).
  • You MUST write down a local phone number. If you do not have a local phone number, please use a number of a person who can help you receive the parcel.

Checklist for booking
  1. Make sure to book with the exact full name on your passport.
  2. Please make sure to unlock your smartphone through your cellphone carrier before coming to Korea, especially if you are from the United States, Canada, or Japan. If your smartphone is locked, you CANNOT use this SIM card.
  3. If you are Korean, you can get a SIM card from the Sinchon Branch only. Please also note that Korean nationals cannot activate the SIM card with a passport. You need to present the physical form of your Korean resident ID card or driver's license to activate the SIM card.

FAQ

Does this SIM come with a Korean local 010 phone number?

Yes, a Korean phone number starting with 010 will be issued for all SIM card options.

Can I extend the SIM card for a long period?

SIM card extension is only available for 90-day and 120-day plan users. To extend your SIM card validity beyond 90 days, you must have a valid Residence Card (Alien Registration Card, ARC) and register the SIM card with your ARC. To do so, please contact the customer center via the contact details provided in the manual BEFORE your SIM card expires. If you do not extend your SIM card within 3 days of its expiry, it will be automatically terminated.

Would this SIM stop working if I depart Korea?

According to the Korean law for major telecom companies, regardless of your plan, the SIM card will be terminated once you leave Korea. If you have an ARC and intend to travel outside of Korea, please consult with the SIM card company via the contact details provided in the manual.

What if the SIM doesn't work on my phone?

The universal type SIM card is compatible with phones using standard, micro, and nano SIM cards. Check with your phone carrier to make sure the SIM card is compatible with your device.
