This was such a great hike! The car ride from Seoul was not only convenient, but already quite a highlight as we could enjoy the gorgeous scenery of Gyeongbuk. With lots of enthusiasm and raincoats in our backpack, we made us on our way to climb up to the peak at 1,439 m. The trails were beautiful and pleasantly quiet, despite hiking on the weekend, the weather turned out to be perfect for our hike, and we even got to see the autumn colours starting to show themselves. Our friendly English-speaking tour guide shared his knowledge about the mountain and region with us and was eager to help us capturing the gorgeous nature of Sobaeksan. After a challenging hike to the top, we were rewarded with one of the most spectacular mountain landscapes I have experienced in Korea so far. Surrounded by stunning peaks and valleys all around, we enjoyed a tasty kimbap picnic prepared by our guide, before making us on our way back to the base, where we we finished our day off with some delicious Jeon and Makgeolli. This day-tour was an amazing opportunity to see a region off the usual tourist itinery and a perfect location to enjoy some nature outside of Korea's bustling cities.
