Amazing tour - trip of a lifetime! Day 1, we saw the birthplace of a mother and son who are important in Korean art and Confucian history - not only beautiful and historic but also educational. Next, we walked on the sand of a popular beach where locals were singing and dancing, followed by a delightful waterfront cluster of high-end coffee shops. Day 2, we walked along an extraordinary trail overlooking the ocean, visited a train station and park immortalized in a popular Korean drama series Sandglass, and took countless pictures at the Hassla museum, which is an unbelievable wonderland of art, sculpture, whimsy, and adventure. Day 3, we visited the pastures and hills of a sheep farm - straight out of Sound of Music, and mediated at a historic Buddhist temple. The hotel is out-of-this world, with a sculpture garden and "staircase to heaven." The architecture is ingenious - a giant cruise ship on top of a mountain. Our guide, Mr. Kim, was knowledgable and incredibly considerate. He took us to the Gangneung brewery for dinner - fantastic pizza and beer!
