The Hahoe Byeolsingut Mask Dance is a traditional performance that has been passed down by commoners in Hahoe Village, Andong, since the mid-12th century. Originally performed as part of a village ritual, the dance was meant to pray for peace and a good harvest.

The entire Hahoe Village is designated as a National Folklore Cultural Heritage site for its wide array of well-preserved tangible and intangible cultural assets. The village was famously visited by Queen Elizabeth II, who praised it as one of the most quintessentially Korean places she had seen.

As one of the five major Confucian academies that survived the 1868 nationwide abolishment, Byeongsan Seowon (Byeongsan Confucian Academy) holds immense cultural and historical value. Beyond its scholarly heritage, it is also considered a masterpiece of Korean achitecture.
