Yongyeon Bridge 용연다리

This bridge is named 'Yongyeon' which means the dragon may fly magnificently in here.
In addition, it has one of the famous night views in Jeju Island.
After the sunset, many streetlamps along the street, colorful lights on the bridge, a graceful gazebo and a steep cliff are in harmony, creating a fantastic scenery.

Every year, Yongyeon Sunsang Music Festival is held near here, which recaptures various culture and offers many visitors to numerous interesting things to watch.
But, there isn't a fixed festival date so if you want to participate in the festival, you have to check the information on the Jeju city hall website before visiting.

There are many legends about the origin of Jeju and one of them is Grandma Seolmundae. Grandma Seolmundae is a daughter of the Great Jade Emperor. The Great Jade Empero r prohibited intervention in world of human beings. But she opened the sky and landed secretly. Because of her selfish behavior, her father got angry and made her go down to the land. But she had the courage and determination to rise above the deportation because she loved the land people so much. She was really big so she was able to make the Jeju Island.
She always boasted of her height especially in Yongyeon because it is deep but reaches only just the top of her foot.
