A must-visit palace for first time Seoul visitors, Gyeongbokgung Palace is the largest out of the five in Seoul (Changgyeonggung, Gyeonghuigung, Deoksugung, Changdeokgung).
Built in 1395, it is commonly referred to as the “Northern Palace” because it is located furthest north compared to the neighboring palaces, Changdeokgung and Gyeongheegung.
Gyeongbokgung Palace is arguably the grandest and most beautiful out of the five palaces. Whip out your camera and be prepared to capture lots of gorgeous photos of the architecture and scenery.
Visiting the palace during special holidays like Chuseok makes for a great experience as there are cultural programs and events being held such as traditional dancing and singing performances and the opportunity to participate in traditional games and arts and crafts.
Though the admission fee is very inexpensive, wearing a traditional Korean attire, Hanbok', will grant you free entry into the palace. There are many Hanbok rental shops around the area. For example, '3355 Hanbok rental shop' lets you rent one for the whole day. It is a great opportunity to fully embrace Korean culture and the colors also look amazing in photos.

They shut the entry doors 1 hour before it closes. That’s your key to visit the palace and its surroundings avoiding massive crowds. Also, the sunset’s light has a beautiful impact in the architecture

Rent a Hanbok and you get to enter for free! I think this palace is a must visit if you travel to Seoul for the first time! It’s really beautiful seeing so many tourists wearing Hanbok.

Be sure to check out the time for the guard changing ceremony. You can exit gyeonbokgung station to reach this palace directly. It's a huge palace but the main hall and rooms are restricted to enter.
