Information

The facts

Simpson Tang (심슨탕) is a popular budae jjigae (spicy sausage stew) restaurant in Hongdae. It has branches in other areas of Seoul.

*Budae Jjigae, meaning army base stew, is a thick spicy kimchi stew incorporated with hot dogs, canned ham, and Spam.

Simpson Tang is especially famous because of not only the taste but also the fact that it's run by a Korean singer Hwangbo.

You'll be able to find signatures of Korean celebrities displayed on one side of the wall.

this place in myeongdong is popular not only among tourists but also Koreans, in fact I noticed that there were more locals than foreigners. This is the place to go to for budaejjigae in Korea, even though some might say that the dish tastes more or less the same everywhere, this place makes the effort to differentiate their stew by offering interesting add-ons that are not easily found elsewhere. For example, try their soy sauce butter rice - sounds weird but tasted suprisingly good!

Certainly one of the best army stew I have tried in Seoul. Had their croquette as sides and it was great too!
