Jayu (freedom) Park is the first Western-styled park in Korea. Ever since the opening of Incheon port and the establishment of each nations boundary area, it was built 9 years ahead of Pagoda Park in Seoul. It was formerly known as the West Park because the East Park had a Japanese shrine during the Japanese colonization period, and after regaining freedom by way of the successful Incheon Landing Operation, it was renamed as Jayu Park from All Nation's Park.
At the top of Mt. Eunbongsan stands a statue of General Mcarthur, who led the Incheon Amphibious Landing Operation during the Korean War. Also, there is a Memorial Tower to Commemorate the 100th Anniversary of Amity between America and Korea. This memorial tower represents the permanent friendship and relation between the two nations who have maintained an alliance for over a century.
Also, from this park, you can view some parts of downtown, harbor facilities and the ocean. There is also a cherry blossom festival held here every spring.
The popular drama "Goblin" starring Gong Yoo, Lee Dong-wook and Kim Go-Eun was also filmed at this location.
