Overview
Meet the first messengers of spring at the beautiful villages in southwestern Korea.
Gwangyang and Gurye, picturesque villages in Jeollanam-do, greet spring earlier than any other cities in Korea. Before the bloom of cherry blossoms, white Maehwa (plum blossom) and yellow Sansuyu (Cornelian Cherry) flowers signal the arrival of spring. Take a walk along the flower-lined road and enjoy the festival with live music, local food, handmade crafts, and many more!
Why this tour? ▷ Hassle-free way to admire 2 of the early spring flower fields in 1 day ▷ Escape from the busy city and enjoy the beautiful spring scenery with various event booths ▷ Maehwa: plum blossom with white and pink petals, symbol of dignity in Korean traditional philosophy ▷ Sansuyu flower: yellow flower of a dogwood tree & its red berry (Sansuyu) is used as traditional medicine
▲ Gwangyang Maehwa Festival Gwangyang Maehwa Festival takes places in Seomjin Village, home to the largest number of plum blossom trees in Korea. Enjoy a walk beneath the plum blossoms and also sample and purchase local organic plum products.
▲ Gurye Sansuyu Festival Sansuyu Village is like a messenger of spring, with its beautiful yello sansuyu flower in full bloom. The village also offers a couple of good exercise spots near Jirisan Mountain, including Dullegil Road, which consists of trekking routes and the old walking trail known as Daedongyeojido.
