The Korean Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) is a buffer zone between South and North Korea. This Cheorwon DMZ tour includes a visit to the Labor Party Building, used by North Korea before the war, and the Battlefield of Baekma (White Horse) Hill, where one of the fiercest battles of the Korean War took place. Flowing through rugged valleys and basalt cliffs, the Hantangang River in Cheorwon offers breathtaking seasonal views and a glimpse into the region's volcanic past and natural beauty.

Discovered in 1975 near Cheorwon, the Second Tunnel is a 3.5 km-long underground passage built by North Korea for infiltration, with a capacity to transport 30,000 troops per hour. Today, visitors can explore a 500m section of the tunnel to learn about its structure and North Korea's infiltration tactics at the on-site exhibition.

Built during North Korea's control of the area, the Labor Party Building in Cheorwon still bears bullet marks and scars from the Korean War, offering a powerful glimpse into the conflict's past.

Checklist for booking

All the participants must type in their passport information (full name on the passport, passport number) on the booking page. This is to make a list of visitors and submit it to the authorized DMZ office before visiting (mandatory).
Children under 3 years old are free of charge. Please bring the child's ID to verify the age.

Precautions
You must carry your PASSPORT (or ARC) on the day of the tour.

Every visitor will be asked to show his/her passport before entering DMZ.
You may not participate this tour without your passport. The Korean army will check your ID and if you do not have your ID, you may be prohibited to enter DMZ. In this case, no refund will be issued.

- Walk across a skywalk bridge with views of the Hantangang River and unique basalt cliffs below

- The 2nd Tunnel (*may be closed on the day due to security issues): Descend into a secret infiltration tunnel dug by North Korea beneath the DMZ

- Peace Observatory: Stand at the observation deck near Cheorwon’s DMZ and scan North Korean territory through high-powered telescopes

- Woljeong-ri Station: Visit this historic railway station by the DMZ, where rusted war-era train remains and photo exhibits narrate the poignant story of Korea’s division and railway history

*Woljeong-ri Station will be available only until the end of August.

Are child tickets available?

No, the same price applies to both adults and children. However, children under 36 months may join free of charge but must share a seat with a parent or guardian in the vehicle.

Can I change the tour date or number of people after booking?

Is hotel pickup and drop-off included?

No, hotel pickup and drop-off are not provided. Please join the tour at one of the following locations: Hongik University Station, Myeongdong Station, or Dongdaemun History & Culture Park Station.

Is the Cheorwon DMZ tour wheelchair or stroller accessible?

The Cheorwon DMZ tour is not suitable for wheelchairs or baby strollers due to steep slopes and uneven terrain at several sites. Visitors are advised to consider mobility limitations before booking.

Do I need to bring my passport for the DMZ tour? What if I forget it?

Yes, you must bring a valid passport on the day of the tour to enter the DMZ. Without it, entry is not allowed, and refunds will not be issued for missed entry due to missing ID.
