The facts

Wat Ratchaburana is the first temple you would encounter if you start your tour from the upper east side of Ayutthaya.

In the middle of the temple, there is Prang (pagoda with Khmer style) with stairs heading up to its small door in the middle. If you do an about-face after running up the stairs then you will be surprised by the glorious view of Ayutthaya from above. Otherwise, you can step into the Prang filled with treasures and murals carved in every wall in a crypt. A large number of Buddha images and gold artifacts were found out from here even though many thieves had stolen some of them already. The reason why there were many valuables is that Wat Ratchaburana was built on the cremation site of King's brothers.

If you want to have a look at gorgeous treasures excavated and discovered from the crypt, then don't hesitate to head to the Chao Sam Phraya National museum 20-minute walk away.
