Wollyeongri Cactus Village is an unique village in Jeju. Cactus grown in Wollyeongri, Opuntia Ficus-indicus Ver saboten Makino, is endemic and especially grown in those tropical areas. How it established itself in Jeju is presently unknown. It is possible that seed could drifted here on the Kuroshio Current but more likely that the seed is distributed intentionally. It has medicinal use as an anti-inflammatory. Wollyeong villager have planted it along stone walls and house walls to discourage entry of rats and snakes. The yellow flowers appear during the summer months.

even from the main road, you can see a lot of cactus in this area. but walk a little bit until you can find the beach, long wood bridge, and cactus in the beach stone. i was there when the sun almost set and the view was amazing!
