The facts

These stone steps were built during the colonial period along the diving line between the Japanese concession established in 1883 and the Chinese concession established in 1884 and it is connected with Jayu park. They were designed in different ways.



On each side of these steps, dividing the two concession points, are Chinese and Japanese buildings forming a distinct contrast in styles. 

On the left side, there is a house where overseas Chinese live. Visitors are not allowed to go inside the house since it is occupies private residences. On the right side, there is a street with compacted Japanese-style buildings. You can feel the difference in atmospheres at the same time.



A statue of Confucius, donated by the City of Qingdao in China, now stands near the top of the steps, looking at the view of the port below.

Because the stairs is steep, you better go downstairs after seeing Samgukji Mural Wall. On the right side, there will be japanese style building. Ond on the left side is chinese style building
