The trip to Daedunsan mountain exquisite. We had too much traffic so too short a time for good hiking. Definitely need more time there. The Wanju Wild food festival had excellent food and the grapes I bought were magnificent. The shows were also most entertaining.

We went on the Daedunsan & Wanju Wild Local Food Festival tour on 28 September 2025. Unfortunately, it was very rainy and windy the whole day so we couldn’t finish the hike and the second part of the tour (local food festival in Wanju) was cancelled. We did receive a full refund and the tour itself was well-organised!

The local festival was quite fun and authentic. However, everything felt rushed. First of all, we spent 5 hours to get there and more than 4 hours to come back. Because we were late at our first destination, we were only able to spend one hour at Daedunsan and we didn't have time to go hiking. Finally, even if the guide was knowledgeable and funny at times, he was also very rude to three female tourists in our group because they were late for less than 5 minutes. As he was frustrated with them and as he was waiting for them, he named them by their nationality showing some clear racism towards these three tourists. When they came to the bus, he humiliated them at least 2 or 3 times in front of the entire bus. This is not acceptable. I felt so bad for these 3 women.

The hike was stunning, although cut short, it was worth it as the view was gorgeous from up the Samsun Staircase! After the hike we visited the local Food Festival and it was way bigger than I thought! The food was great, I was able to see traditional performances and the atmosphere in general was just fun - so I enjoyed myself a lot there! Also our tour guide Alvin made the long bus drive entertaining and insightful as he shared a lot of his experiences about life in Korea. I would recommend this trip to anyone who wants to see Korea outside of the usual tourist spots!

This was a really great way to see more of Korea outside of the major cities. The Daedunsan cable care and suspension bridge were great, but there were about 6 flights of steep stairs from the cable car to the suspension bridge. My calves were spasming (from a recent unrelated Mount Hallasan hike) so I skipped the stairway to heaven. Others on the tour said was only 10 min away from the suspension bridge, so if I had been in better shape I would have tried it. The Wanju food festival was really well organized. Super clean with maps and lots of toilets dispersed through out. i really liked how they set up multiple stages in different locations so you could see a variety of different performances. I especially liked how they also had performers interacting with the public at ground/street level. It felt more intimate and festive. I went with an adult friend, so we didn't get to participate in a lot of the activities as they seemed more geared towards kids, but it was really nice to see so many family friendly and education focused booths. If I had kids I would definitely want to bring them here. They even provided strollers and wheelchairs. The signage was exclusively Korean so make sure you have your phone charged and ready for translating if you don't speak/read Korean. While it was slightly inconvenient, it really made the experience feel more authentic. You're seeing how regular Koreans celebrate and live their lives, so don't expect to be catered to as a foreigner. Although of course they were very welcoming and warm-hearted like everywhere else in the country. The ride was smooth (dedicated bus lane!), the bus seats comfortable, and if you end in Myeong-dong you can continue the day with even more shopping and nightlife.

The downside was, due to delays getting there, we were only given 10 mins to enjoy the sky bridge and then had to immediately head back down. We had to leave quickly to get to the festival at a certain time (to take a photo with the people who kindly compensated the trip for us) but I think in future if it is done again, the festival should be pushed later for more time on the mountain. While the festival in Wonju was lively with many passionate vendors, most of the activities are for children. However, if you have kids and are trying to choose a family trip, the trip as it currently stands would be excellent for you!

The zipline and wood chopping looked like a lot of fun for kids, as did the many hands-on activities. There were a lot of food stalls and I bought doenjang and soy sauce for reasonable prices. There were also some great singers at one side of the festival and, when the big stage was open, an Orchestra played together with opera singers. Unfortunately we had to leave to take the bus home, but the singers were the highlight for me. Overall the trip was well organized, our tour leader was knowledgable and I got to see a part of Korea that I hadn't visited before.

Sunny was an amazing tour guide, very energetic and active in presenting our itinerary and information about where we were going. I also liked the Wild and Local Food Festival. It was amazing to see all the specialties this region has to offer. And there were so many unique experiences like the hand-catching of fish in the stream and the grasshopper catching in the rice field. Wanju was a great trip and I hope I can come back again and to Korea and do more Trazy trips in the future.

A lot of fun. There was a lot of hiking and stair climbing. I wasn't up for going all the way up to the bridge, but there was a really nice place to sit and see the wonderful view and enjoy the nice weather so I was happy.
