The facts

Situated on the eastern end of Jeju Island, Udo Island was named because it resembles a lying cow. It boasts fertile soils, abundant schools of fish, and scenic sights; local heritage (female divers, stone walls, and stone tombs) as well as natural attractions abound on the island, making it a miniature of Jeju Island. The island is also full of amenities and tourism outlets: fishing, bike trails, sand massaging, tour submarines and cruises.

Seobin Baeksa (a coral beach designated as Natural Monument No. 438) has appeared regularly in films (including Il Mare) and TV commercials thanks to its breathtaking white sand and emerald blue sea. The sea around the beach showcases different colors depending on the water level. These make Seobin Baeksa one of the most popular tourist attractions along with Hallasan Mountain on Jeju Island. Residing in Udobong Peak (132.5m), the highest spot on the island, is a lighthouse surrounded by a spacious park. The peak offers outstanding overlooks of the island at a glance.

To protect the exquisite nature and promote maritime tourism, Bukjeju County designated two ports on the island (Udo Port and Haumokdong Port) and the sea surrounding it (25,863㎢) as Udo Maritime Park in January 2001. Visitors can appreciate maritime tourism at its best including a trip under the sea by submarine.

There are many legends about the origin of Jeju and one of them is Grandma Seolmundae.
Grandma Seolmundae is a daughter of the Great Jade Emperor. The Great Jade Empero r prohibited intervention in world of human beings. But she opened the sky and landed secretly. Because of her selfish behavior, her father got angry and made her go down to the land. But she had the courage and determination to rise above the deportation because she loved the land people so much. She was really big so she was able to make the Jeju Island.
She used Udo Island as her washboard. When she washed her laundry, she urinated at Udo. And that’s why until now tidal current of Udo is strong and fast.

went to Udo Island twice and the part i love the most is riding the boat to Udo Island because I enjoy watching the seagulls follow the boat and the 2nd time I went here, me and friend bought the shrimp snack and we fed the seagulls following us.. it was a bit scary at first but it was very fun plus the wind and the speed of the boat is a very a thrilling experience.

A cute little Island where you can cycle everywhere, I really recommend renting a cycle. You can stop by some of the beaches (which are very nice btw), walk around and get in the water :)

I went there with my high school friends. Usually, many people went there at the morning and came out when the last boat leaves. We stayed there 2day and 1night. We thought it was a good choice. After touring Jeju Island first, we went there with the last boat. Many shops and restaurants are closed after 6 cuz there is no more customers or travelers at that time. So it was little hard to find fine place to eat. However, the most famous place doesn’t close lately so don’t worry about that. After eating, we lent 4 bikes for couples. It was awesome to ride a bike along the beach. White beach is very famous and beautiful. Though many shops close early, they open at the early morning so we could eat burger and bean ice cream.
