Jeju Island, an island located in south-west of the Korean Peninsula, is filled with beautiful natural landscape received as a gift from nature. The island has been selected as one of the "New 7 Wonders of the World." Jeju Island is commonly divided into Jeju-si, Seogwipo-si, and the eastern and western regions. The eastern region of Jeju has many famous places such as Geomun Oreum, Manjanggul lave caves and the Saryeoni forest trail, which are not to be missed. Among its beaches, the wide, sandy Woljeongri Beach adds to the elegance of Jeju travel. Here, we have selected best must-go spots, from natural scenery and theme parks to cafes and restaurants.

Darangshi Oreum (Wollangbong) 다랑쉬오름 (월랑봉)

"Darangshi Oreum (Wollangbong)," is a parasitic volcano where visitors can overlook tourist attractions such as 'Seongsan Ilchulbong (Sunrise Peak)', 'Udo Island', 'Mt. Halla', coastlines, and various parasitic cones. "Darangshi Oreum" hosts 'Wollang Peak Sunrise Festival' every year allowing visitors to see the spectacular full moon from the crater as well.

Ojo Haenyeo's House 오조 해녀의 집

This is a famous restaurant for its "Jeonbokjuk (abalone porridge)," which is a rice-based porridge made with abalone and sesame oil. Here, they use the innards and the chewy yellow outer meat of the abalone, and is thus a tell-tale shade of pale, almost unappetizing green. But one spoonful and positive associations take over!

Cafe Woljeongri Lowa 카페 월정리로와

"Cafe Woljeongri Lowa" is a popular cafe where you can rest on a wooden chair beneath the shade of a tree at the top floor of the cafe. Enjoy a cool lemonade looking out to the picturesque scenery of Woljeongri Beach.

Sangumburi 산굼부리

"Sangumburi (Volcanic Crater)," is an extinct volcanic crater that is recognized as rare and academically significant in studying the formation of craters. It is the only crater botanic garden, and a must see for any Jeju visitor!

Bijarim Forest 비자림

"Bijarim (Japanese Torreya Forest)," is the first forest bath in Jeju Island, and the largest forest of one species of tree in the world. It is believed to rejuvenate blood vessels and revitalize and restore the body's biorhythms. Regain your energy from traveling at "Bijarim"!

Gimnyeong Maze Park (김녕미로공원)

At "Gimnyeong Maze Park," you can enjoy wandering around a vast maze, designed by world-leading maze designer, Adrian Fisher. The maze is based on six symbols representing Jeju, including the shoreline, a pony, a snake's head and a dolmen. Return to childhood and play hide and seek with your children at "Gimnyeong Maze Park"!

Udo Island 우도

Taking about 10 minutes by ferry from Jeju Island, you can visit "Udo (Cow Island)," a home to two heavenly beaches, Sanhosa Beach and Hagosoodong Beach. Not only Udo's blue sea, cozy meadows and white sandy beaches are impressive, but also its night view under the stars.

Haemaji shimteo 해맞이 쉼터

"Haemaji Shimteo" is both a rest area and a restaurant well-known for its generous serving of "ramyeon" with fresh seafood as well as the biggest size "pajeon" on Jeju Island. Just drop by while driving on the coastal road and take a break at "Haemaji Shimteo"!

Bangju Halmeoni Sikdang 방주할머니 식당

This is a well-known restaurant among locals for its handmade tofu and bean noodles made with pumpkin. The "bibimbap" with seasoned bracken is also top of the pot at this restaurant. If you want to taste a true healthy Korean food, visit "Bangju Halmeoni Sikdang"!

Theme Park "Fairy and Woodcutter" 선녀와 나무꾼

A place of memories from olden days, "Theme Park 'Fairy and Woodcutter,'" exhibits 1960s and 70's of Korea. By stepping through the entrance, visitors can look around 15 exhibitions which include a miniature version of old Seoul Station, a traditional market, and an old movie town.

Daheeyeon 다희연

"Daheeyeon" is an organic green tea park in a natural lava cave that maintains Jeju's long mysterious nature. You can experience picking green tea leaves and making green tea soap. Go and enjoy a cup of green tea in a volcanic cave at "Donggul Dawon" in "Daheeyeon"!

Woljeongri Beach 월정리 해수욕장

Although it is not an officially registered beach, "Woljeongri Beach" boasts its picturesque scenery and beautiful white sand. Go enjoy driving on the Coastal Road on the way to visiting "Woljeongri Beach"!

Jeju Folk Village 제주민속촌

This is the only Folk Village Theme Park on Jeju Island. Visitors can examine about 3,000 traditional artifacts of Jeju including tools and games. Don't miss the fun of looking around about 100 traditional houses and a marketplace view that retains the trace of olden-day Jeju.

Manjanggul Cave (만장굴)

Take a trip to a mysterious underground world, "Manjanggul," the largest known lava cave in the world! Inside the cave, there is a delicate stone turtle sculpture that looks like Jeju Island, which is popular with tourists. Go and visit the grand underground cave, "Manjanggul."

Seongsan Ilchulbong (Seongsan Sunrise Peak) 성산 일출봉

"Seongsan Ilchulbong (Sunrise Peak)" is one of the special places that people visit to see the sun rise as each old year turns to the new. It's not easy to climb, however, once you reach the top of the peak, you will be able to see the stunning scenery of Jeju Island.

Cafe Moraebi 카페 모래비

This is a beautiful cafe with a white and blue European-style exterior, like a cafe in Santorini, Greece. You can enjoy various cool drinks and coffee as well as quesadilla, looking out to the white sand and emerald seawater of Woljeongri beach.

Cafe Si-in's Jib (A Poet's House) 시인의 집

"Cafe The Poet's House" is run by an actual female poet, Son Cecilia. Looking out to the beautiful sea, you can enjoy the quiet, calm atmosphere and relax at this cafe, which is more than a cafe, but like a home to the visitors.

Jeju Zipline 제주 짚라인

You can enjoy this thrilling and dynamic Zipline while appreciating great view of Mt. Hallsan and ocean at Daheeyeon. Fly in the sky and meet refresh Jeju at "Zipline"!

Characworld Jeju 캐릭월드 제주

This is a comprehensive character exhibition hall where you can experience characters, animations, and scientific theories together with famous domestic and international characters children like. This is where you can both learn and have fun!

Saryeoni Forest Path 사려니 숲길

"Saryeoni Forest Path", is one of the famous, popular trails, especially for healing and meditation, featuring the famous Hallasan bamboo growing in among the trees as well. This trail is perfect for tourists who want to experience forest walking without too much effort.

Kim Young Gap Gallery Dumoak 김영갑 갤러리 두모악

Kim Young Gap, who lived a quiet life and took photos of the hills and sea of Jeju for 15 years. He died from Lou Gehrig's disease while the gallery was being constructed. His pictures include significant images of hidden Jeju that purify the heart of viewers.

Seopjikoji Hill 섭지코지

"Seopjikoji," is one of the most spectacular places on Jeju with rocks of fantastic shapes along the seacoast set off by the dark blue ocean and topped with a wide meadow. It is a mysterious but well-known site.

Ecoland Jeju 에코랜드

At "Eco Land Theme Park," visitors can explore around in a train that looks like 1800s’ steam powered Baldwin train. While touring around by the special train, visitors can see a variety of plants, animals, and insects living in the mysterious Gotjawal forests. It also has a lake for visitors to experience the ecosystem of the forest, take a walk, and enjoy picnic.
