Our day started out with a group ride that left Bangkok 0720 arriving at River Kwai about 0900. The tour begn with a brief stop at a Veteran's cemetary where we paid our respects to those who served. This was followed by a self guided (45/60 minute) tour of the Railway and War Muesum which give us a few moments to walk along the railroad and sneak a peak at the shops before quickly boarding the train. The 2 hour enjoyable and memorable train ride took us to Nam Tok where we ate family style lunch overlooking the river. After eating we paid an additonal 200 bahts per person to enjoy a relaxing river ride (which wasn't promoted) and should have been longer than 20 minutes (but it was nice just the same). It began to rain but that didn't damped our spirits we were eagerly awaiting our final stop, Sai Yok National Park. The waterfall was small but refreshing to see, not sure of the size of the actual park whereas we were only alloted 30 minutes to explore before heading back to Bangkok. Looking back, lunch should have been in a different location, the itineray should have been explained clearely but overall the train ride was the most memorable and enjoyable.

Overview

Visit the historic sites of the Second World War (WW II) in Kanchanaburi that will remind you of the significance of peace.

In this fast-changing world, it's easy to forget about the sacrifices during the WW II. This full day tour is a great way to restore our appreciation for them! Why this tour?
▷Follow the traces of allied POWs of the WW II against the Japanese army that are tragic, but educational and meaningful
▷Death Railway: a railway connecting Thailand and Burma built by forced laborers by the Empire of Japan in 1943, which left an estimated 16,000 sacrifices
▷Bridge over River Kwai: a steel bridge featured in the movie The Bridge on the River Kwai (1957)
