Descripción general

If you are interested in experiencing templestay at one of the most renowned Buddhist temples in the heart of Seoul city, Jogyesa Templestay is an excellent choice.

Located in Jongno, Seoul, Jogyesa Temple is easy to reach and yet offers a sense of serenity of a sacred temple. Jogyesa is the administrative headquarter of the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism. It is also one of the main locations for the annual Yeon Deung Hoe (Lotus Lantern Festival in Seoul) held around April~May, luring many tourists.

At Jogyesa, you can hear the sound of a Dharma Drum which is believed to guide the common people on the righteous path. Another highlight of the temple is the pagoda that houses Shakyamuni Buddha’s relics brought by Sri Lankan monk, Ven. Dalmabara. You can get a chance to learn about Korean Buddhism as well at the Central Buddhist Museum.

Jogyesa Templestay's motto is “the real hero is who conquers his own anger and hatred” and thus came the name of the templestay program, “To be a True Hero!”. Take a time to look into yourself with the sounds of the Dharma Drum and the temple bell and learn to be a true hero in your life!

- You will have a 1-hour private teatime for drinking tea and small talking with a nun during your temple stay. The exact time will be noticed to you on the day.
2D1N Experiential Temple Stay
- Teatime with a nun is included in the itinerary, please note that teatime will be held in a group.

- Comfortable and loose clothes for sleeping, extra t-shirts, sneakers, and socks
*Please wear respectable clothes - no sleeveless shirts, shorts, short skirts, or flip-flops.

2. Children must be accompanied by a guardian.
3. No smoking, alcohol or public display of affections are allowed.
4. Please refrain from making loud noises during your stay.
5. Please wear respectful and appropriate clothing (no shorts/short skirts, sleeveless/halter tops, etc.).
6. Please respect the temple regulations for the programs.
7. Please keep noble silence during your stay and refrain from making loud noises and using cell phones.
8. If the program is canceled due to the temple's internal situation or lack of participants, you will be informed in advance and get a full refund.
