Seochon, meaning the "village to the West" in Korean, is an old historic neighborhood area to the west of Gyeongbokgung Palace. Seochon area broadly covers the entire area from the west gate of Gyeongbokgung to the entrance of Inwangsan mountain, including dozens of small villages in Jongno district.
Although Seochon is not known to be one of the busiest traditional tourist spots, it has its own attractive elements. The part of Seochon alleyway is the cluster of traditional Hanok homes similar to Bukchon, but in more modernized architectural style.
Little shops and boutiques, as well as cafes alongside the back alley of Jahamun-ro are irresistible to pass by. Overall, Seochon is a perfect spot to take a nice stroll for shopping and food.
