Unhyeongung is a private house of the royal family during the late Joseon period. It was the house of Heungseon Daewon-gun, the ruler of Korea in the 19th century, and his son King Gojong (the second-to-last king of the Joseon Dynasty) also lived here until age 12 before he took the throne. Unhyeongung holds various events throughout the year and allows visitors to experience Korean traditional royal costumes and lifestyles of the Joseon Dynasty. The wedding ceremony of King Gojong and Queen Myeongseong is reenacted here in Unhyeongung on the 3rd or 4th Saturday in April and October every year.
