Opened on June 15, 2001 Jeju National Museum is a historical museum that displays, preserves and studies Jeju Island’s historical and cultural assets. Its aim is to collect and preserve historical and cultural artifacts from Jeju and to carefully research and display those artifacts.
The major activities are:
- Exhibitions which exhibits its permanent collection on local culture and historic development chronologically and by theme;
- Collection and Conservation of Artifacts which were donated from citizens and organizations;
- Educational programs such as Museum culture classes, academy classes, classes for teachers, traveling Museum classes
- Performances and Cultural Events with well-known musicians, troupes and artists' groups
- Hands-on Experience Corner, visitors can do various artistic activities such as stone rubbing or woodblock printing
