The facts

The Chuam Suspension Bridge, located at Chuam Beach in Donghae City, is Korea’s only ocean overwater suspension bridge. Opened in 2019, this 72-meter-long bridge offers a unique experience of walking above the sea, with stunning views of the East Sea and surrounding rock formations.

One of its highlights is the glass floor section at the center, where visitors can look directly down at the waves below for an added thrill. Admission is free, and the bridge is open from 6 AM to 10 PM in summer and until 8 PM in winter. However, entry may be restricted in bad weather, so it’s a good idea to check conditions in advance.

Nearby attractions include the iconic Chotdaebawi Rock, Haeamjeong Pavilion, and a coastal sculpture park, making it a great spot for a scenic and relaxing walk by the sea.

We went on a weekday morning, so it wasn't crowded at all, and the sea breeze made the whole experience refreshing. There are also photo zones and benches to relax and take in the view. A great addition to your itinerary if you're looking for something scenic but not too time-consuming.
