The facts

Mukho Port, located in Donghae City, is one of the region’s most historic harbors, having opened in 1937. Once a bustling hub for fishing and trade, it remains a vibrant port where visitors can experience the authentic charm of a working coastal town.

Early mornings at Mukho Port are especially lively, with fishing boats returning and fresh seafood auctions taking place. It’s a great spot to observe local culture and enjoy fresh catches at reasonable prices. The surrounding area is rich with attractions like Mukho Lighthouse, Nongoldam-gil mural village, and Dojjaebi-gol Sky Valley, all within walking distance.

Mukho Port is open year-round and free to visit. It’s also equipped with barrier-free walkways, tactile paving, and accessible parking, making it welcoming to all visitors. If you’re in the area, don’t miss trying a local favorite: Jangkalguksu (spicy noodle soup), served at eateries near the port.

Mukho Port is a peaceful and picturesque spot to experience the local vibe of Donghae. The port is still active with fishing boats, so you get a real sense of daily life here. There are fresh seafood restaurants nearby, and walking around the area is really relaxing, especially with the sea breeze and views of the coastline. It's also close to Mukho Lighthouse and Nongoldam-gil, so you can easily explore all three in one visit. Not a big tourist attraction, but definitely worth a stop if you enjoy authentic, local places with beautiful ocean views.
