The facts

Mureung Byeolyucheonji is a unique eco-themed park in Donghae, Gangwon-do, created from a former limestone quarry. This scenic spot is known for its stunning emerald-colored lakes—Cheongokho and Geumgokho—and a wide range of activities for all ages.

Visitors can enjoy thrilling rides such as Korea’s first Sky Glider (777m), an alpine coaster, luge, and zipline. In summer, the park transforms with blooming lavender fields, creating the perfect purple-hued photo backdrop. Recently added water activities like boats, moon boats, and paddle boats make the experience even more diverse.

While exploring Mureung Byeolyucheonji, be sure to stop by the scenic viewpoint cafe. Their signature Cement Ice Cream and Cement Cake are must-tries—fun, Instagram-worthy desserts inspired by the site's quarry history. Despite their name, they're deliciously sweet and creamy, making them a perfect treat with a view of the emerald lakes.

Mureungbyeol Yucheonji is more than just a garden, it's a great place to unwind and enjoy a bit of everything. I spent about an hour walking the trails, taking in the scenery, and snapping photos of the ponds, flowers, and mountain views. There are small bridges to cross, benches to rest on, and quiet spots ideal for a short picnic or reflection.
