The stream that feeds this waterfall flows from a supposed hollow peak named Yeonhwa Peak. During the Joseon Dynasty, a well-respected Confucian Scholar named Seo Geo-jeong visited this very spot and was stunned by the beauty of the misty waterfall. He described it as ‘a place given by heaven, only to be seen in one’s dreams or in one’s imagination.’
