The facts

Located in Chiang Rai, Wat Rong Khun, also known as White Temple, is a Buddhist temple where you can see unique architecture and unconventional arts. Built and designed by contemporary artist Chalermchai Kositpipat, the sophisticated artwork is truly interesting and one of kind!

Unlike other Buddhist temples in Thailand that are usually decorated in gold, Wat Rong Khun is purely all white. Chalermchai Kositpipat wanted to depict Buddha's purity through the white color. The inside of the temple is inlaid in clear glass and this represents the wisdom of Buddha.

The temple is also filled with pictures of modern famous people and they are drawn to show a message. Natural disasters that Thailand is also painted, in remembrance of the people who died in the catastrophe.

If you love art, especially unconventional contemporary art or simply want to see a unique temple that is very different from other temples, this is the perfect temple to visit.
