Jeonggangwon, also known as the Institute of Traditional Korean Cuisine, located in Pyeongchang, Gangwondo Province in the eastern part of Korea, offers visitors the chance to learn and experience Korean traditional food culture.
At Jeonggangwon, you can make some of the most popular dishes of Korean traditional cuisine such as Bibimbap, Gochujang (Korean red pepper paste), Kimchi, Injeolmi (Korean rice cake covered with dried beans), Gamgjajeon (Potato Pancake) and many more Korean traditional foods.
For those who opt for tasting the menu instead of making it, Jeonggangwon also runs a restaurant which serves Hanjeongsik (Korean table d'hôte).
Jeonggangwon also offers more than just food experience. The place offers plenty of facilities for you to enjoy, such as Food Museum, Korean Traditional Clothes (Hanbok) Experience Museum, Seokbinggo (Stone Ice Storage) and a hanok experience for those who wish to stay a night at a traditional Korean hanok-style building.
A spa, a billiards table, a ping pong table, a karaoke and many more recreational facilities are also available if you book in advance.
Aside from being known for its Korean traditional food culture experience, Jeonggangwon is also famous for being a filming location for a Korean TV series called "Sikgaek (SBS, 2008)", or "Gourmet", starred by Kim Rae-won and Nam Sang-mi.
As Jeonggangwon is located in Pyeongchang, it will be even more worth a visit if you visit during the PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympics!
