Ojukheon House, located in the city of Gangneung, Gangwon Province of South Korea, is the birthplace of Yulgok Yi I, a prominent Confucian scholar of the Joseon dynasty, and his mother Sin Saimdang, an artist, writer, calligraphist, and poet.
Mongryongsil room of Ojukheon House is the most representative room in the whole house because it is the place where Sin Saimdang gave birth to Yulgok Yi I. There are also Munseongsa, Anchae, Sarangchae, Eojegak, Yulgok Memorial Hall and Gangneung Municipal Museum that constitute the whole Ojukheon & Ojukheon Municipal Museum. Ojukheon archives and exhibits possessions of Yulgok Yi I including the book written by him and artwork of Sin Saimdang.
Ojukheon House was designated as Treasure No. 165 and gained more popularity recently after the famous Korean Drama “Saimdang, Light's Diary” was filmed here.
