National Mountain Museum opened in 2012 to introduce the hiking culture of Koreans. It is located about 15 minutes by car from downtown Sokcho.
At the exhibition halls, visitors can see 100 the most famous mountains and some beloved trekking routes in Korea. Also, visitors can get to know about the history of hiking in Korea, safety regulations, and some science related to hiking. There are experience halls where visitors can try indoor climbing and high altitude environments.
