Yeonggeumjeong is located near Sokcho downtown area. When a name of a place has "jeong" at the end, it usually refers to a traditional pavilion. These days, you can see a traditional style pavilion at the end of a bridge at Yeonggeumjeong area, but this is recently built.
In the past, it was named as Yeonggeumjeong because the strange-looking rocks on the shore made mysterious sounds that resemble the sound of geomungo, a traditional Korean instrument. You can not see those rocks as much as it was before, but this spot is still famous for fishing and hiking.
