The facts

Hadong Ssanggyesa Temple, located in Jirisan National Park, is one of the most important temples in Korean Buddhism with its long history and head position in the Jogye Order. Initially the temple was founded in 722 during the Silla Era. The temple was burned down to the ground during the Japanese invasion Imjin Waeran in the 16th century and rebuilt later on.

Ssanggyesa Temple is famous for its beautiful scenery that changes every season. Especially in the spring, hundreds of 600-year-old cheery blossom trees bloom along the 6km path to the temple, making it a perfect destination to indulge in the beauty of the spring season in Korea.
