The facts

Naksansa Temple in Gangwon Province, the Eastern region of Korea, is an old temple situated on the top of a cliff overlooking the East Sea. The temple was originally founded in 671 during the Silla Dynasty by Grand Master Uisang and has been rebuilt several times afterwards.

Spots you should not miss at Naksansa Temple are Uisandae, a small pavilion built on the top of the cliff, and Haesugwaneumsan, a huge 16-meter tall stone statue of Buddha. Thanks to its unique location, the temple and its surroundings offer magnificent views and nature sceneries that you cannot find elsewhere.

As it is located only 1 hour away from Seoraksan National Park by car, Naksansa Temple is considered as one of the must-visit places in Ganwon Province.
