The facts

Located in Damyang Jeollanam-do Province, Myeongokheonwonrim Garden is a garden that was scholar Oh Hui-do's countryside sanctuary during the Joseon Dynasty (1585 ~ 1623), where he read and wrote many books.

The word "Myeongokheon" is the word for the sound jade beads make as they clink together and the sound of water gently lapping along the pond. The main features of the garden include the Myeongokheon pavilion where the scholar often lectured, as well as the square-shaped pond in front of the pavilion surrounded by lots of flowering trees.

There is a 300 year-old ginkgo tree near the garden, used by King Injo of the Joseon Dynasty to tie his horse to when he went to visit Oh Hui-do. The trees around the pond include red pines and crape myrtles. The best part about this venue? Entry is completely free all day, any day!

The site has also been featured in the popular drama "Moonlight Drawn by Clouds", starring Park Bo-gum and Kim Yoo-jung.
