Gwanghalluwon Garden, also known as "Gwangtongnu", was built by Hwanghee Jeongseung in 1419 during King Sejong's reign in the Joseon Dynasty. The garden acquired its name because of its surreal beauty, which was compared to the moon.
Located in Namwon, it is famous for being the location where Lee Mong-ryong and Chunhyang, two lovers from a well-known Korean folk tale, first met. On May 5th of every year, the garden hosts the Chunhyangjae Festival, which celebrates the deep and lasting love of the famous couple.
The location has also been featured in the popular drama "Moonlight Drawn by Clouds", starring Park Bo-gum and Kim Yoo-jung.
