Wat Mahathat, or Wat Mahathat Yuwarat Rangsarit, is one of the oldest royal temples in Bangkok located between Grand Palace and Bangkok National Museum.
The temple was built during the Ayutthaya period and has served as a venue for various royal events.
Wat Mahathat is also a home to Thailand's oldest institution for Buddhism, Mahachulalongkorn Buddhist University. And at the temple, there is Vipassana Meditation Center where visitors can take meditation classes, which is offered in both Thai and English.
