Every spring, a little piece of paradise descends from heavens and lands in Gonggoji, a remote cape that juts into the water off the southeastern coast of Geoje-do.
Gonngoji farms, located at the foot of a steep mountain overlooking Naedo island, is the labour of 40 years of an elderly couple who have converted their hillside fields into a flower galore. The couple has planted over 50 different kinds of plants including white and yellow daffodils, camellias, palm trees, daphnes and spireas that create an unimaginable mosaic of color and fragrance.
As you begin your steep descent to the Gonggoji , you will be welcomed by a tunnel of camellia trees that make the hike down to the garden a pleasant experience. On arriving at Gonggoji, you will witness a never seen before the sight of hundreds of yellow and white daffodils, planted in terraced layers swaying gently in the sunlight. The sight is enough to uplift even the bleakest of all moods. The plants are protected from their predators by a rustic stone wall that adds to the beauty of the garden. The garden descends onto a small pebble beach offering great views of the sea and the neighboring Naedo Island.
In spite of all the hard work put in by the couple to create Gonggoji, entry to this garden is free, but visitors can purchase a daffodil plant to help fund the owner's horticultural hobby.
