Jim Thompson's House is located in the Siam district of Bangkok, Thailand. It is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Thailand. Jim Thompson is referred to as the "Legendary American of Thailand" as he dedicated his life to spreading the Thai silk around the world and ultimately branching out his own fashion brand called Jim Thompson Thai Silk Company.
The buildings feature two distinct cultures, Thailand and Western. His main house consists of a complex of six traditional antique Thai style rooms. Jim used to call this house as the ‘Jungle' since his house is surrounded in a green belt.
You will be able to feel how much Jim loved Thailand by his sense of arts and buildings when you visit Jim Thompson's House. After he passed away in 1967, his house was remodeled as a museum, restaurant and shop.
The museum provides an English guided tour, where an English-speaker tour guide will give you a tour every 30 minutes. The guided tour runs about 40 minutes, which is enough time for you to navigate Jim Thompson's House.
