The facts

Ilmin Museum of Art building was first used by Dong-a ilbo, one of the nation's most famous, influential and historical newspaper publishers to date. After Dong-a ilbo moved to a new building , the building was remodeled and is now used by the Ilmin museum of art. This museum is famous for its impressive and unique exhibitions. For example, Ilmin Museum of Art tried to combine documentary movies and historical documents together, because they have common theme of "Remembering the past". Like this, Ilmin Museum of Art does not focus only on exhibiting famous pictures. Rather, it introduces a whole visual culture by adapting various mediums with its exhibitions. Also, based on the history of the building, the top 2 floors of the building are used as the "Newspaper Museum". In fact, this museum is not operated by the Ilmin culture foundation so you have to pay more for admission to it, but if you buy tickets for both Ilmin museum of art and Newspaper museum together, you can get discounts. Cafe ImA, located on the 1st floor is famous for its savory waffle. You can find specific information about Cafe ImA on Trazy, too. Also, this museum utilizes pillars as bookshelves and are selling some books now. This innovative system is called "Pillar bookshop". It usually sells books about art and the humanities. If you walk around Gwanghwamun, you won't ever miss this building because of its shining gold walls.
