The facts

A famous scenic spot with excellent beauty sights and many interesting rocks. Deep in its thick forest lies the one thousand year old Seonunsa Temple. It is a popular destination for hiking, with a variety of trails and a giant 15m tall Buddha carved into the mountain that dates back to the Goryeo dynasty. It is also one of the premier sport climbing destinations in South Korea, having perhaps the highest concentration of difficult routes in the country. There is free camping just outside the park, nearby restaurants and a hostel if you hate the outdoors. The hiking routes are breathtaking and aren't fully stairs and pavement, like many of the trails around Korea. Most of my students hadn't even heard of this park, it's a hidden gem for sure!

Absolutely beautiful park! This is a perfect spot for a weekend getaway that isn't too crowded and where you won't be surrounded by other foreigners. The only other white folks I saw there were climbers and ended up being awesome campfire sharers. One of the best place for sport climbing in all of South Korea and has some breathtaking hiking, not to mention free camping!
