Sungkyunkwan, also called Seoul Munmyo, was the highest educational institution for Confucian teachings and studies during the Goryeo and Joseon dynasties.
The main facilities include a shrine to Confucius and distinguished Confucian scholars, a lecture hall(Myeongryundang), dormitories(Dongjae and Seojae) and other auxillary facilities.
Every spring and fall, a traditional ritual for Confucius and his disciples takes place.
