개요

Jagalchi Fish Market is the largest fish market in Korea and is located in Busan, beside Nampo Port. The market was set up during Korean War and is mostly run by women called "Jagalchi Ajumma".
This is a great place to discover new species of seafood you've never seen before, to know more about people from Busan, eat delicious fresh seafood in the restaurants located next to the market and have great views of the port and the surrounding hillside.

The Jagalchi Cultural Tourism Festival is held every year, in October.

Very eye-opening experience. You'll love this place if you're a seafood lover, as you can get to eat all kinds of fresh seafood here!

If you've booked an Airbnb with kitchen, you can purchase some items back to cook. You can get the fishmongers to prepare the seafood for you like slice the fish into sashimi slices, open the clams.
We purchased some large cockles at 5kwon for about 1kg(?) at the street market. Shellfish along the streets are fairly cheap.
Inside the building, there are live seafood. Very little crab options but lots of humongous lobsters (could be due to season?) as compared to noryanjin in Seoul. We were quoted 50kwon for a 5kg lobster. Didn't purchase cos we felt was too expensive. But you can pick the seafood and they'll get a restaurant to cook then upstairs.
Overall I prefer Noryanjin over Jagalchi. But each region has their recommended cooking techniques.

If you are a seafood lover, it is a must to make a trip to visit the Jagalchi Fish Market! Even if you are not into seafood, the vast amout of sea creatures on sale is enough to satisfy your curiosity. Think of it as a huge open aquarium! Best thing, it's free! :)
