Information

개요

Located in the Old City area in Bangkok, Thailand, Wat Suthat, also known as Wat Suthat Thep Wararam, is one of the oldest and most historically significant temples to Thai people.

Rama I first started to build Wat Suthat and it was completed during the period of Rama III, taking 27 years to complete the building.

The temple is also well known for the 'Sao Ching Cha (The Giant Swing)' in front of the temple. It's where Thai people used to catch a money pocket from the top of the swing as part of a religious ceremony. However, many people died from the ceremony and the Thai government banned the celebration for safety reason.

When you enter the temple, you will be able to see the murals of 24 incarnations of Buddha and Thailand’s biggest Sukhothai-era bronze Buddha. You need to dress appropriately to join the service at the temple and take off your shoes to pray.

There are a lot of stores that sell Buddhist goods on the left side of the temple for you take a look as well.
