SooYeon Sanbang is the first traditional Korean tea house opened in a Korean-style house. This place was the house where Taejun Lee lived from 1933 to 1946 and he wrote many works of literature here. He named this house ‘SooYeon Sanbang’ and after he died, his grandchild opened this house as a tea house.
This place is not for many people because they have approximately 6 tables. There are more tables in the yard. It opens at 11:30 and closes at 22:00. An individual or a group is limited to staying for 2 hours to keep Sooyeon Sanbang clean and maintain its environment and hygiene of. Reservation is available for groups of 4 or more. Despite of this limitation, it’s popular with visitors coming every day. The most popular seat in SooYeon Sanbang is located outside of the guest room. It’s a little bit higher than other rooms so you can have a great view of Bugaksan(Mt.).
SooYeon Sanbang is famous for shaved Ice with sweet Pumpkin, vanilla ice-cream and red bean. Another popular item is Injeolmi, a Korean traditional rice cake made from the glutinous rice and coated with bean flour is delicious.
