Overview

Explore the historic wonders of Himeji on a private tour to two of Japan's most revered World Heritage Sites: Himeji Castle and Engyoji Temple.

Himeji Castle is renowned for its striking white walls and the rich history they embody. As you walk through the castle, you'll encounter warfare equipment used by the samurai over 400 years ago. Afterward, take a bus and a ropeway to Engyoji Temple, one of the largest temples in Japan with many cultural assets. Once you step into Mt. Shosa, you will be overwhelmed by the purity and serenity of the surroundings.

Why this tour?

Itinerary

9:00amMeet the guide at Himeji Station
Castle View Deck
- View Himeji Castle from an observation deck at Himeji Station. Enjoy the views of the castle that you can only experience from this deck, such as the long street leading to the castle!
Otemae Street
- This is the main street connecting Himeji Station to Himeji Castle. As you walk along this boulevard, the figure of the castle drawing closer and larger will make you look forward to exploring the castle even more.
Himeji Castle
- Himeji Castle was the first historical building in Japan to be registered as a World Heritage Site. Its graceful appearance, like that of a heron spreading its wings, has earned it the nickname of "White Heron Castle."
Kokoen Garden
- After visiting Himeji Castle, enjoy the vast Japanese garden built on the castle grounds, where you can enjoy the view of the beautiful Himeji Castle among the lush greenery of the garden.
Mt. Shosha Ropeway
- In the old days, people used to walk up the steep path to Engyoji Temple. But for us modern people, the ropeway is a relief. The view of the city from the gondola is exceptional.
Engyoji Temple
- Enjoy a unique landscape that combines traditional Buddhist architecture and natural mountain scenery.
