Rattanakosin Exhibition Hall, or also referred to as Rattanakosin Island by locals, is a museum located near the Golden Mount in the Phra Nakhon district of Bangkok.
Opened in 2010, this museum has 9 exhibition halls, each of them featured with state-of-the-art multimedia technologies and exhibitions.
Though the museum is targeted toward locals, but it will be well worth a visit for foreign visitors as they will have the chance to learn about the rich history and culture of Old City area in Bangkok, Thailand and the Rattanakosin era.
At Rattanakosin Exhibition Hall, you can enjoy 4D multimedia presentation of the Rattanakosin era and find a near-perfect model of the Grand Palace. There's also an animation that depicts about the legend of Emerald Buddha and a 360-degree theater where you can learn about the Grand Palace and the performing arts of Thailand.
On the ground floor is the Event Hall where you can enjoy artistic and cultural events, and on the top floor is a lounge where you can admire a fantastic view of the Golden Mount, Loha Prasat, King Prajadhipok Museum and Queen's Gallery. So try to drop by these two spots during your visit to Rattanakosin Exhibition Hall!
The museum provides tour sessions every 20 minutes and admission ends at 6:00 pm, so make sure you visit the museum early and take your time to fully enjoy the exhibitions. You can ask for an audio guide at the ticket counter, but you will need to make a deposit of 1,000 THB per audio guide machine.
