概要

Thai Human Imagery Museum, located in Nakhon Pathom Province, west of Bangkok, is Thailand's first wax museum opened in 1989. The museum was built for three reasons: to promote Thai culture, history and art, to develop the study and practice of sculpture in Thailand, and to raise awareness of Thai history among Thai students.

Thai Human Imagery Museum houses countless life-like sculptures depicting historic and cultural figures of Thailand including the Thai monarchs, famous Buddhist monks, artists, and even literary characters. Some of the world-famous figures can also be found such as Mahatma Gandhi, Abraham Lincoln and Winston Churchill. In addition, there are depictions of Thai people that reflect their everyday lives. They look all so real, people even say that "the only thing missing in them is their breath!"

Due to the hot and humid climate of Thailand, the museum's "wax" figures are not made of wax but actually made of fiberglass, keeping the figures better preserved from the heat as well as allowing for a better rendering of the skin texture to make them more realistic than traditional wax figures.

Compared to Madame Tussauds Wax Museum, you won't find any famous celebrities at Thai Human Imagery Museum, but you will still enjoy their incredibly life-like figures.
