Similan Islands, located 85 kilometers northwest of Phuket, are a group of nine islands in the Andaman Sea in Thailand. The word “Similan” means “nine” in Yawi language (a Malayan language used in Kelantan, Malaysia). The nine islands, Ko Huyong, Ko Payang, Ko Payan, Ko Miang, Ko Ha, Ko Payu, Ko Hin Pousar, Ko Similan, and Ko Ba-ngu, are each assigned a number from 1 to 9 respectively. In 2014, the National Park expanded the archipelago by including two more islands, Ko Bon and Ko Tachai.

Ranked as one of the Top 10 Dive Destinations to Visit in the World by National Geographic Society, Similan Islands boast beautiful white sand beaches and crystal clear water. The majestic piles of colossal boulders are also definitely eye-catching. Additionally, the magnificent marine life is another stunning quality of Similan Islands. With exceptionally clear water and ideal sea temperature, Similan beaches make a perfect home for diverse marine creatures and coral growth.
