Jay Fai Restaurant

Jay Fai restaurant, located just a few steps away from the famous Thip Samai Pad Thai in Old City, is a place where you can have very local Thai cuisine including various seafood dishes and noodles.

The place has mixed reviews from previous visitors mainly due to the expensive price. The price at Jay Fai can be quite a shocker comparing to other restaurants in Bangkok serving similar dishes, costing around 200~800 THB.

However, if you put down the criticism, you may as well simply fall in love with the restaurant as the dishes come with different kinds of fresh, giant seafood that are arguably worth every penny.

Especially, some of their signature dishes, drunken noodles which are fried flat noodles with Thai herbs and seafood, and crab omelette served as a roll stuffed with eggs and juicy white crab meat, are must-tries. Jay Fai is quite popular among locals and tourists alike even with surprisingly high prices compared to the rest of Bangkok. It is regarded one of the best restaurants in Bangkok by many.

To get to Jay Fai restaurant, start from the Democracy Monument. From Democracy Monument, follow Ratchadamnoen Klang Road and walk straight towards King Rama III Memorial. At the intersection where Ratchadamnoen Klang Road and Maha Chai Road meet, turn right and keep on walking straight down until you see Jay Fai on the opposite side of Wat Saket.

Also, it is possible to get there by a San Saeb canal ferry. Get off at Phanfa Bridge Pier and walk straight down until you reach the part where you can cross the canal at Bamrung Muang Road. Cross the canal and turn right. Walk straight on until you see Jay Fai restaurant.
