개요

Jisimdo Island is a 20-minute ferry ride away from Jangseungpo Ferry Terminal. The island is also called as Camellia Island due to a large number of camellia trees. (60% -70%).

Jisimdo is a beautiful cliff side island offering a good hike (2- 3 hrs) coupled with scenic views.A not so well known fact about the island is that nearly 37 different species of evergreen trees and plants including pine trees, Geoje aerides and of course camellia trees grow on this island making it a natural botanical treasure.

It is an ideal spot for a picnic, photography, fishing and a romantic date.

The best time to visit the place is between late winter and early spring when the flowers are in full bloom covering the island with red flowers and petals.

Jisimdo is also of historic significance, as it was a strategic point used by the Japanese army during world war II against China and some remnants like artillery sites and tunnels still exist on the island.

Besides nature, you will find cafes serving Dong dong bu (rice wine) , pajeon (pancake) and fresh coffee. Most of these cafes have al fresco seats so you can enjoy your meal with a great view of the ocean and the cliffs.
